Ford has announced a recall of more than 148,000 vehicles in the United States due to safety issues, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This recall covers specific models affected by either brake fluid leaks or powertrain control module concerns.
The majority of the recall, involving 123,611 vehicles, targets certain 2017-2018 Ford F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models. These vehicles face a risk of reduced braking performance due to a fluid leak, potentially increasing stopping distances. Ford dealers will repair these issues by replacing parts such as the master cylinder or brake booster at no charge to vehicle owners. A separate recall concerns 24,655 of the 2025 Explorer models, which may experience powertrain control module resets while driving, possibly causing damage to the park system or engine stalling. A corrective software update will be provided to address this issue, with notifications to owners scheduled by May 26.
These recalls emphasize Ford's commitment to safety and adherence to NHTSA regulations. Affected vehicle owners can verify their inclusion in the recall using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Ford's recall checker or the NHTSA website. This proactive measure allows Ford to uphold safety standards and maintain customer trust, even as the company navigates product reliability challenges.
